This site is devoted to the many great things about parrots.  I find parrots to be smart, beautiful, and affectionate creatures.  In this site i tell about many different kinds of parrots, and information about them.  So, Come on in, and experience the fascination with parrots!

The parrot of this month, July, is the Scarlet Macaw, seen in the picture to the right.  The Scarlet Macaw is one of the larger macaws along with the Blue and Gold, and the Hyacinth Macaw. 

In size these macaws range from 32 to 38 centimeters long, or around 90 inches.  They can be found in rainforests in parts of Central America, and parts of South America.   These birds can fly up to 35 miles per hour!  Another amazing fact is that they can live up to 80 years old.

They range in colors of primrily red, to blue, yellow, and small areas of green.  These beautiful birds are harder to find in the wild because they are becoming more and more endangered everyday. 

Parrots As Pets!

If there is a great pet, that pet is a bird.  Like a dog or a cat, a bird has just as much personality, or affection, if not, more.  A bird can understand how you feel, and likewise it is easy for you to see how your bird's feeling.  They are great companions, funny creatures, and smart animals.  Yes, they do take a lot of work.  They need to be fed, kept clean, and handled with.  In the end it definitely pays off though!
