Common Traits and Behavior
Amazons aren't always known to be the nicest birds, and they take a lot of work for them to adjust to being friendly. They tend to be stubborn, and don't like the idea of you being their owner! Though, this doesn't go for all Amazons, because when properly adjusted they are extremely playful, and acrobatic. they love chew toys and like to nibble on clothes. They, like others, do have the ability to talk, but no tto the extent of birds like the African Greys. The Double Yellow Headed Amazons are known to be the best talkers, and can say many phrases. Amazons can make great pets for those willing to work with a beautiful, but strong bird!
Interesting Information
Amazons are slowly becoming more and more extinct, and there are only about 8 species of Amazons left in captivity. In total there are 27 different species of Amazons! You can find most of these species in Mexico, and many are also found in Brazil, Bolivia, and Argentina. All Amazons have a dominantly green body with hints of other colors around the body. An example is the Double Yellow Headed Amazon that has an all yellow head, or the Green-Cheeked Amazon that has a red forehead, and a bit of red on the cheeks.
